Teen
Acne Information
Why
most teenagers suffer
from Acne
Teen
ages are a hard period and
acne makes them even
harder. It is estimated that three out of four teens (teen acne)
suffer from acne and in some cases this may not only leave bad
scars but also cause severe psychological trauma for life.
In the age when teens are emotionally unstable a
problem like acne may be
a reason for them to lose their self-confidence and self esteem.
Many of them become shy and feel embarrassed to go out or even
speak to other people.
In this
situation for a teenager
is very important to feel the understanding of parents, teachers
and others. And the latter, on the other hand, have to realize the
trauma that is undergone by teens with acne.
Kids in teen
years feel ugly and unclean and that’s why they prefer not to be in
the spotlight. If this is the case with your child or children, you
should advise them that acne is a normal phase of life.
Tell them
that before they know it, acne will disappear and they will forget
about that immediately keeping only the memories for all the nice
things they have done, so don’t let them waste these years hiding.
It is also
very important to explain to your teenagers the cause of acne
–namely that it occurs when the hair follicles of the skin are blocked. Oil is preduced
by the sebaceous glands contained in each follicle
to lubricate the skin and hair.
But in the
puberty there is too much oil that fills the hair
follicles. This increases the creation of more cells and old cells
are shed rapidly mixing with sebum and blocking the follicles. The
skin becomes infected causing pimples, whiteheads and
blackheads to
occur.
Teenagers
have to know that picking pimples will probably cause
more breakouts because acne is highly contagious. This may
lead to bad scarring. Therefore one thing that is always
helpful is a good hygiene and healthy
regimen.
A lot of
researches are made to find out whether acne is hereditary and it
is now believed that there is such possibility. Stress is also a
factor, which increases the outbreak of acne, and teenagers should
try to be less anxious and tense.
The problem
is that there is a circle which seems unbreakable. Teenagers have
acne which makes them stressed and stress aggravates acne
condition. The result is that teens lose self-esteem, they start
dropping old friends, they tend to speak in a low voice and keep
their heads down while walking.
So, if you see any of these symptoms in your kid, then
it is time to talk with the teenager and let him or her know that 3
out of 4 people have acne. You should advise him or her on proper
care , the type of
make up to not use and
on how to prevent spreading of the outbreak. In cases of severe
type of teen acne
consult a doctor for proper medications.
